Channels & capture is where admins see every channel Comma can capture, connect a new one, and manage the channels already connected. You reach it from Team > Configuration > Channels & capture. Only admins can connect or disconnect a channel.
Two ways a channel connects
Section titled “Two ways a channel connects”Comma connects a channel one of two ways, depending on the platform:
- Organizational integrations connect once, at the admin level, and automatically cover every user on that platform. This is how Slack, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Zoom connect.
- Personal integrations connect one person at a time, because the platform is end-to-end encrypted and has no admin-level API. This is how WhatsApp, Signal, iMessage, and similar platforms connect. An admin must turn on “Allow your team to connect” for a platform before individual users can pair their own accounts.
For the full setup steps, follow the guide for the connection type:
Managing a connected channel
Section titled “Managing a connected channel”Each connected channel shows its current status. Organizational integrations can be Active, Paused, or in an Error state; personal integrations show as Connected or Disconnected. You can disconnect either type at any time. Previously captured messages stay in the archive after you disconnect a channel — disconnecting only stops new capture going forward.
Adding a new channel
Section titled “Adding a new channel”- Open Team > Configuration > Channels & capture.
- Find the platform you want to add.
- Click Connect, then follow the platform’s setup flow.
Most platforms use the standard flow covered in the two guides above. A few have their own dedicated setup guide because they work differently: Zoom, iMessage, and Bloomberg Chat.
