Exam drills

Esta página aún no está disponible en tu idioma.

A drill is a timed rehearsal of an examiner’s request: essentially a mock exam. You produce the records an examiner usually asks for, Comma records how long it took, and the finished drill is kept as a record your auditor can see.

You reach drills from Exam readiness > Drills. Admins and managers can run drills. Auditors can read them.

Press Start run-through. A drill covers last quarter and has seven steps:

  1. Population for a date range
  2. One conversation
  3. Evidence of review
  4. Channel coverage
  5. Controls
  6. Gaps
  7. Custodian lifecycle

For each step, do one of these:

  • Generate - start the evidence now. For a report step, this queues the report, and the step marks itself done when the report finishes. Refresh the page to see it. For an export step, it adds a link to eDiscovery, where you create the export and then link it. For Gaps, it records the Compliance gaps page.
  • Link existing - pick evidence you already have.
  • Mark not applicable - give a reason.
  • Mark done - once its evidence is ready.

What Link existing accepts:

StepEvidence it takes
Report stepsA Complete or Partial report run that includes that report
Population for a date rangeA completed eDiscovery collection export
One conversationAn email-format conversation export made after the drill started
ControlsA Configuration history run. Comma also adds a link to the settings change log, which you can export for the examiner.

Population for a date range uses an eDiscovery collection export. One conversation uses an email-format conversation export. If eDiscovery is not turned on for your team, Generate marks them not applicable with the reason “eDiscovery export is not enabled for this team.”

Add notes to any step, and write up Lessons learned as you go.

When every step is done or not applicable, press Complete drill. The drill records the elapsed time and is sealed.

After completion you can still add Follow-up actions, each with an action, an owner, and a due date, and mark them done.

Completed drills appear under Exam drill history on the Reports page and in the quarterly compliance report.

Admins are reminded to run a drill on the schedule set in audit preparedness settings. The default is once a year.
